#40 - Te-nalț, Doamne, pururi, căci m-ai ridicat

Strofa 1 1. ¹ Te-nalț, Doamne, pururi, căci m-ai ridicat, (¹ I exalt You forever, Lord, for You have lifted me up;) pe vrăjmași, să râdă, Tu nu i-ai lăsat! (You did not let my enemies laugh at me!) ² Am strigat spre Tine Doamne-ndurător, (² I cried out to You, merciful Lord;) Tu m-ai scos din groapă, n-ai lăsat să mor! (You brought me out of the pit and did not let me die!)

Strofa 2 2. ³ Sufletul meu, Doamne, din mormânt l-ai scos, (³ Lord, You brought my soul out of the grave;) m-ai adus la viață, dintre morți de jos. (You brought me to life from among the dead below.) ⁴ Domnului cântați-I, voi cei preaiubiți, (⁴ Sing to the Lord, you beloved ones,) și măritu-I Nume pururea-L măriți! (And magnify His glorious name forever!)

Strofa 3 3. ⁵ Căci o clipă ține doar mânia Sa, (⁵ For His anger lasts only a moment,) îndurarea-I însă toată viața ta! (But His mercy lasts your whole life!) Seara vine plânsul chinului amar, (In the evening comes the weeping of bitter pain;) dimineața vine veselia iar! (In the morning joy comes again!)

Strofa 4 4. ⁶ Când eram în bine, îmi ziceam așa: (⁶ When all was well, I said to myself:) niciodată-n viață nu m-aș clătina, (Never in my life would I be shaken,) ⁷ căci pe-un munte tare, m-ai fost așezat, (⁷ For You had set me upon a firm mountain;) dar Ți-ai ascuns fața și m-am tulburat. (But You hid Your face, and I was troubled.)

Strofa 5 5. ⁸ Doamne, către Tine, m-am rugat zicând: (⁸ Lord, I prayed to You, saying:) ⁹ Ce câștigi Tu, oare, de-aș muri curând, (⁹ What would You gain if I were to die soon?) poate să Te laude țărâna de jos, (Can the dust below praise You?) poate ea să spună cât ești credincios? (Can it tell how faithful You are?)

Strofa 6 6. ¹⁰ Doamne-ascultă! Doamne, fii îndurător, (¹⁰ Hear me, Lord! Lord, be merciful,) și mi-ajută, Doamne, că-s făr de-ajutor, (And help me, Lord, for I am helpless.) ¹¹ și Tu-n veselie, plânsul mi-ai schimbat (¹¹ You changed my weeping into joy;) dezlegându-mi jalea Tu m-ai bucurat. (You released my mourning and made me glad.)

Strofa 7 7. ¹² Pentru ca și duhul și inima mea (¹² So that both my spirit and my heart) pururea să-Ți cânte, mute să nu stea! (May sing to You forever and not remain silent!) Doamne, Domnul slavei, eu cât voi trăi, (Lord, Lord of glory, as long as I live,) pururea pe Tine Te voi preamări! (I will glorify You always!)
